Ha, the title actually reminds me of a conversation that my boyfriend and I had when I showed him a picture of Sonic that I had drawn, presenting a more functional, realistic style to him. Oh, he made me so mad! He said that he looked like a girl and teased me when I said that it was more functional for a fast animal to have those attributes. I'll explain from top to bottom,

Hedgehogs originated as desert animals, so I made the ears larger, with thin pinnas (the part of the ear that you can see, outer ear, etc.) for temperature regulation. Next, I kept the eyes huge and added in a special adaptation to aid in depth perception while traveling at great speeds. If you look closely at their eyes, you'll notice a second iris in a darker shade than their normal eye color with its own pupil. It's really a very pretty effect when the light shines on them just right. The two lenses can move independently, laying at right angles to each other to produce a magnifying effect for a better reaction time to obstacles in their path.They also come equipped with long eyelashes, both to shield their eyes from the sun and to protect them from dust and other debris while running.Their heads are set up on a long, graceful neck, a bit like your smaller African cats (cheetahs, Servals). This, along with the large eyes and satellite-like ears, makes their heads look smaller than they actually are. The teeth are sharp, with a dental formula similar to a mongoose or weasel, but more compact like a cat's. The upper torso is large, with well-sprung ribs protecting the chest cavity which holds a grande-sized set of a heart and lungs. The differences in the resting and active respiratory rate are quite dramatic. Normal resting rates for your Mobian hedgehogs are around 60 breaths per minute with a heart rate between 80 and 115 beats per minute. Those parameters skyrocket to 150 breaths per minute and 220 beats per minute! Their frames are stretched and light for more aerodynamic precision, giving them a lovely, graceful look. In males, the musculature of the arms and the pectoral muscles are well developed compared to females (for obvious reasons..). Also, females lack the two stiff guard quills coming off the the back of the shoulders in males, and posses shorter quills (again, both for obvious reasons). They have long, slender waists that are well muscled without being overpowering, however, the musculature of the legs, especially their thighs, is. The thick muscles on the thighs make their hips look wide, so I can understand where my guy is coming from but he's not a fem-boy!! He's not even human!

So that's my story about how guys with long eyelashes are hot. By the way, my boyfriend has very long eyelashes, and with blond tips too! WOOT!
